Frequently Asked Questions
Some of our most Frequently Asked Questions.
WHAT DOES THE NEW LEGISLATION MEAN FOR ME IF I AM RENTING OR SELLING A PROPERTY?
From 1st January 2022, all properties that are rented or being sold must be compliant with new smoke alarm legislation.
This means that there must be a smoke alarm in EVERY bedroom, connecting the hallway or passage to the exit, and on each storey.
Smoke alarms must be interconnected so that when one goes off, all go off, photoelectric, and be either wired to 240v or wireless with a 10-year lithium battery.
WHAT IF I AM LIVING IN MY OWN HOME?
The same legislation that is coming for landlords and sellers in 2022, will be law for ALL other dwellings by 2027. If you are looking at the safety factor, upgrading now will give you peace of mind, as interconnected alarms mean that when one goes off, they all go off, giving more time to evacuate.
WHAT IF I ALREADY HAVE ONE OR TWO NEW ALARMS BUT NEED MORE TO COMPLY?
Under the new laws, if a smoke alarm is currently hardwired, it must be replaced by a hardwired photoelectric alarm.
As long as the alarm is in the correct position, I can supply a new base that connects to newly installed additional wireless alarms, making all of your alarms interconnected and compliant.
I will discuss with you the most efficient and economical way to add alarms to your current setup.
WHAT IF MY SMOKE ALARMS NEED SERVICING WITHIN 12 MONTHS?
We stand by our workmanship and will return free of charge for a service call within 12 months from installation.
HOW DO I PROVE MY SMOKE ALARMS COMPLY WITH NEW LAWS?
Every property is issued with a Certificate of Compliance once installation or inspection is completed satisfactorily. This Certificate, signed by a licensed electrician, is all you need as proof.
DO YOU CHARGE CALL OUT OR TRAVEL FEES?
Travelling to your property is part of completing your job, so no additional call-out or travel fees are added. We are based in Maroochydore and service all areas of the Sunshine Coast.
HOW MUCH DOES A SMOKE ALARM COST?
The price of our smoke alarms varies but you can find these prices on our services page.
